Mod 8.1

After watching the two assigned videos that I chose, the first two videos, I answered these questions.
  1. I chose these videos because they peaked my interest, especially the one about black death, I know it seems a bit morbid but we are in a pathogen of times.
  2. The key concepts of the middle ages video are that the middle ages were a time of high detail, it’s evident in the script illustrations, The fanciful documentation, and the illuminations in Books. It was a religious time and face plate into daily life as well as art. Social hierarchy was present and made evident through imagery left behind in the Scriptures. And I believe the key concepts behind the video on black death is that; art is a human reaction to events, and a big one illustrated in this video is the Black Plague. It was a scary time for humans and it led them to Art and religion, which is a human comfort. And also it reflected that global catastrophes affect everyone, rich or poor, bankers, artists, farmers etc.
  3. The videos most definitely relate to the readings. I think the video on middle ages relates to the 1500 and 1600 Renaissance reading due to its topics of religion which was discussed heavily in this article. And I believe that the video and black death reminded me a lot of the video we saw on “Depositon,” by Weyden, which was a painting of Christ’s death. Just picturing the misery and morbidity that death brings, reminded me a lot of the horrible accounts discussed in the black death video.
  4. I thought both of the videos definitely added depth to our lesson. They assisted me in visualizing the concepts discussed. I’m a visual learner, so any type of imagery really helps me to understand the gravity of arts past
